Oscar Pistorius trial: Neighbour heard 'terrified' screams on night Reeva Steenkamp died
A NEIGHBOUR of Oscar Pistorius heard "terrified, terrified" screaming on the night the athlete shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
Annette Stipp said she woke up at around 3am on Valentine's Day last year after hearing three sounds which she thought were gunshots.
Mrs Stipp, whose husband Johan gave evidence earlier in the trial, claims she saw a light on in Pistorius' property and seconds later heard screaming from the house.
She heard a man and woman screaming at the same time, before a second round of shots and then silence.
Her husband told the high court in Pretoria, South Africa, how he had tried to help revive Ms Steenkamp after the shooting but that she was "mortally wounded".
The trial of the six-time Paralympic champion is now in its fourth week and over the weekend it was announced South Africa's "trial of the century" will run until the middle of May after both sides agreed to an extension.
The case has completely overrun its initial timeframe with the prosecution still to complete its case.
Last week Pistorius revealed he would sell his home to fund his legal costs.
