JOHN TERRY last night warned Liverpool that Chelsea will keep the title pressure on until the last game of the season.
Demba Ba's winning goal against 10-man Swansea kept Jose Mourinho's team three points behind the leaders after Liverpool had beaten Manchester City.
And the 33-year-old believes he could yet crown his career with a fourth Premier League medal.
Terry said: "It feels like a bigger win because of the earlier result. We knew about it, and looking at Manchester City dropping points it is probably the one we wanted - even though Liverpool are flying.
"The manager said before the game, regardless of that result, if we don't win our games then we will make it very easy for them, so it was important.
"We've won our game, and the pressure is still on the teams above and below us".
Terry angered Swansea fans by dashing the length of the field to talk to referee Phil Dowd after defender Chico Flores committed two yellow card fouls in as many minutes.
And he admitted he did try to influence the official.
Terry added: "I just said, 'It's a second yellow for me'. He gave him one a couple minutes before on the halfway line, and that one just outside the box is probably even more a yellow than the other one.
"I'm speaking as a Chelsea player, but when we all sit back and look at it then it's definitely two yellows. It's simple as that. "If it's a minute, two, five minutes into the game and it is a yellow or red card then it doesn't matter. "Thankfully we managed to take advantage. Swansea did well and dug deep and if they continue to play like that I'm sure they will be okay." Swansea boss Garry Monk admitted Flores deserved to go in the 18th minute incident but claimed: "When their bench are surrounding the fourth official, and players are surrounding the referee himself, it makes you wonder about the decision.. "I guess if you go by the letter of the law it was a sending off, but if you go by the letter in every game you will be sending off six or seven players. "The ref told one of my coaching staff he was just giving himself thinking time, and to be fair to Phil Dowd I know him and if he says that then I believe him. I think he is too good to allow himself to be influenced |
