Michael Schumacher SUED as he continues to fight for his life in a coma
SEVEN-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is being sued in relation to an alleged traffic accident just weeks before his horrific skiing accident.
An unnamed Spanish biker claims the 45-year-old German knocked him off his motorcycle as they crossed paths at a roundabout in Seville, Spain.
He says he is now entitled to compensation after breaking his wrist and damaging his clothes and motorcycle in the accident on November 17 last year.
Schumacher was named in the complaint and the firm that lent him the reported Audi A4 is also included.
A police report showed that Schumacher, who was on holiday there, failed to respect the driver's right of way.
The report also specifies that lighting played a big part in the alleged incident.
His life-threatening head injury has left doctors baffled as to whether he will be able to live a normal life - if he ever wakes up.
Because of his current state, Schumacher would not need to attend a trial if Schumacher's representatives or insurers challenged the claims made by the biker.
But sources close to the case have told Spain's Marca that the car hire company's insurance firm has accepted liability and will reach a settlement to cover costs.
In Grenoble, France, Schumacher's family still stay by their loved-one's bedside as he begins to show signs of recovery. Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm confirmed that he was having "short moments of consciousness".
She said: "There are moments when he is awake and moments when he is conscious.
"Of course I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious, the latter meaning there is an ability to interact with his surroundings.
"We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble, and we keep remaining confident."
